ANTIOCH ORPHANAGE

The Story

Antioch Orphanage was established in 2010 in the city of Battambang and began with 10 children. Lim Phanny, a well-known church leader in the area, is director of the orphanage. Pastor Phanny is regarded in Battambang as an effective connector between local government agencies and the faith community. He is also a recognized resource in the region for children who have been neglected and traumatized and is often asked to take boys and girls into the orphanage who are in dire need. His church, Antioch Grace Brethren, is located on the same site as the orphanage.

Many of the children in Cambodia are at risk because of poverty and desperately need a place that is safe and loving. Sadly, the majority of the children at Antioch Orphanage have experienced abuse, have known hunger and have been exposed to abandonment and trauma in their young lives.

Children leave the orphanage on weekday mornings to attend school then return in the afternoons for English language instruction, computer classes, Bible classes, homework, recreation and regular family activities. Through the generosity of our Cambodia Impact supporters, we’ve been able to purchase a bus to transport the children safely to these activities.

The Impact Today

Today, Antioch Orphanage is home to 64 children between the ages of five and twenty-two; thirty-two boys and thirty-two girls. Children are provided with a comfortable home, nutritious meals, medical care, a good education, and sound instruction in God’s word. Children at the orphanage live in one of eight homes, each with house parents who provide a loving, safe family environment. The campus includes a kitchen, an office building with classrooms, a computer lab, a toilet facility, and a sports court with artificial turf that is set up for volleyball, soccer, and basketball.

Our Goal

Our goal is to help vulnerable children and raise them to adulthood so they know Jesus, lead productive lives, start their own families, become active in a local church, and are productive citizens.

Will you join us in caring for some of the most vulnerable of God’s children?
