Meet Lena and Veasna, brother and sister, who live in Phnom Penh. Lena is 14 and her brother, Veasna, is 7. This dear boy has some physical challenges that require extensive care. Veasna is not able to walk or talk so Lena cares for him each day, which takes all of her time and energy. At 14 years of age, Lena has never been to school. Hungry and malnourished, they survive while their mother works at a factory for long hours to provide basic necessities.

We recently became aware of these two young people through our ministry partner, Phillip, at Faithful Family of Christ Church in Sen Sok, Phnom Penh. He shared this heart-wrenching story of a family that struggles to survive and has no hope of flourishing in life without outside assistance.

Cambodia Impact was able to help by purchasing a wheelchair for Veasna, liberating Lena for the first time in seven years. The mobility Veasna has in his new chair gives them both some relief from the difficult life they live.

$120 provided the open door Lena and Veasna needed to experience freedom from the restrictive and debilitating existence they faced each day. Now, they enjoy a new life, filled with the ability to move about freely, and Lena has the opportunity to go to school for the first time in her life.

Our mission at Cambodia Impact is to care for kids, one life at a time, especially those most vulnerable in this difficult and punishing environment. Meeting the needs of children like these gives us great joy and helps fulfill the calling we have to care for “the least of these.” (Matthew 25:40)

Thank you for all you do to love the least, the lost, and the vulnerable in Cambodia!

Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen. (Ephesians 3:20-21)
